So for having stylish and good quality tires you should have to give preference to the bbs wheels as they would provide you the best quality tires on which you can trust blindly. These wheels are not only of good quality but are also cheaper then all other wheels as well. That is the main reason that these tires are also available on the discount prices as well so that you can also avail the facility of discount tires too. As these tires are easily available on discounted rates so no one has to bother so much about finding these tires on discounted rates. Only one thing that you have to keep in your mind is to choose a right color wheel for your car and most probably black color is taken by the most number of people. All these wheels and tires can be purchased through internet so that you would also avail the facility of doorstep delivery too.

747 jumbo plane view?

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

what is the nearest airport from birmingham city where i can view the 747 plane .i thought it would be east mids but i dont think they come there

Check out www.flightlevel350.com, they have a few clips on exactly what you are asking. Most of the best views it seems to me are in Manchester. I don`t know how far that would be for you! These clips were taken by people like you with an interest in viewing planes landing and taking off, with a viewing area

…….

It would be Heathrow. That is the only place near birminham that has them. They tend to fly long distance and that is the nearest main airport that flies to america and so on.

………………….

Maybe Liverpool……… but dont quote me on that !

I work at the bottom of the runway at heathrow - literally meters from it and they go over my head just before landing.
I hardly ever even look up anymore since concorde stopped flying. !!!

Can a 12 almost 13 yr. old ride a dirt bike?

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

im 12 years old and coming up on my 13th birthday, and ive been asking my parents for a dirt bike but they always tell me some story of someone who has died , but then i say more people die in car crashes does that make you not want to drive, so if someone can give me some advice id really be thankful

I rode a dirt bike at ages 12 and 13 (I’m a 40-year-old woman). But if you want to ride, you must first have all the proper safety equipment AND a safe area to ride. Dirt bikes should not be on streets in neighborhoods, and ideally should be driven in a wide open space or a track made specifically for dirt bikes.

I suggest you approach your parents by asking if they would consider it if you had the proper gear and a safe place to ride (with supervision, of course). Do some research on safety gear and show them you are trying to be responsible. And, if they agree, do not break their trust by neglecting to wear the gear and not following the rules.

Last suggestion - try to find a place where you can pay to ride a dirt bike in a controlled environment. Maybe you can test out your skills and improve your confidence as well as show your parents you can handle it.

Don’t forget that even with all that, your parents still have the right to keep you from doing ANY activity that they don’t approve of (for safety or personal reasons). I know it is hard for you to understand the fear of your parents, but it is not a nice feeling. We parents don’t like additional reasons to worry about our kids. So, if they say no, ask again in a year or two.

…………….

It is an extremely rare occurrence that someone dies on a dirt bike and if they do it is a result of not wearing a helmet. Many people do die on 4 wheelers for that very reason. Yes a 12 year old can ride a dirt bike, many kids start racing at 4 or 5. You are far more likely to get a serious injury, such as a broken bone, playing football or soccer than you are to get an injury like that riding a dirt bike. I have been riding and racing for 30 years now and just got my nephew into motocross. I would never have even considered putting him on a dirt bike unless I knew how safe it was.

………..

Yes you can and werdd has a great answer. By going to an organized ride you will have peers around and people to offer tips and suggestions. This is a great hobby and a real confidence builder. Buy dirt bike equipment and crash protection ( you’ll spend about 250 dollars). Go for cheap boots but not a cheap helmet.

Get a bike that fits, with out being there I would say one foot flat on the ground to start( There are no stop signs out there. Why should mom and dad trust you when you are riding on the back side of the hill out of sight? Because you have demonstrated trust in small matter around the home.

So work on this and ask nice. I’d stat with dad, moms are kind of funny about things that wont stand up by themselves

…………….

I’ve seen 5 year olds riding dirt bikes.
Riding a motorcycle on the street isn’t exactly the safest past time.
Put that in comparison to ski diving - make a mistake and I’d rather take my chances on a bike.
You can get just as hurt riding a bicycle as you can on a dirt bike.

A dirt bike is actually safer because of all the safety gear you’re wearing and the suspension allows the rider to be in more control than a bicycle in the dirt.

Anyone with a bicycle can do this -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sScD-lCYC…
The bicyclist was wearing shorts, sneakers, a short sleeve shirt with no safety padding - not exactly safe if he were to crash.

What makes a motorcycle any more dangerous?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKp_rdV2w…
The motorcyclist was wearing motocross leathers with knee pads & hip guards, heavy duty motocross boots with steel tip toes and ankle guards, leather motocross gloves with finger padding, a chest protector with shoulder pads a full face helmet with a chin guard.

…………

Yes you can. We got our first atv when I was 13 I think and I am now a very good rider. I even had a 450r one of the fastest atvs on the planet a few months ago. I had to sell it though…

Tell them to get you a USED Honda crf 150.

DIY Boat and Truck Lettering

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

Most people who want to put letterings on their trucks or boats go to companies who specialize in custom-paint jobs. These businesses often make rip off deals especially if the truck or boat owner does not know the current rates for lettering services. To avoid unnecessary waste of money and time, it sometimes better to just do things on your own.

Do-it-Yourself Boat Lettering

There are now many DIY lettering packages (that come with comprehensive installation instructions) in the market. Vinyl letterings are the most commonly used type of stickers. Here are some of the materials that you would need to do the job:

· Wet release system letters (for perfect installation)

· A plastic squeegee—that would be used to press down the letters and avoid the accumulation of air pockets

· Plastic spray bottle

· Masking tape

· About 2-4 drops of dish detergent

· Razor knife

· Measuring tape

DIY Truck Lettering

You would need the same materials as the one’s needed for boats (the wet system release is also highly advisable). If it is your choice to do the dry installation, be forewarned as you only have a single chance to apply the letters. Wet application system allows for adjustments and there are fewer chances of folds or bubbles during the installation.

Now that you know the materials, it’s time to go out there and start with the installation—all you would need is a sunny weather and everything’s good to go.

Getting Your Own Nerf Bars to Maximize Safety and Convenience

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

If you would like to increase the functional value of your truck, you should equip it with the right accessories such as the nerf bars for truck. But what are nerf bars? To most people nerf bars are metal side steps. These are those tubular bars that are placed on the undersides of your truck to serve as steps so you’d find it easy to get in and out of your truck.

Nerf bars for trucks are great for providing safety to children and older people who get in and out of the truck. Trucks, by nature, have high-ground clearance so you’d be able to provide maximum safety to your kids when they have nerf bars to step on to.

Aside from the ease of getting in and out of the truck, you’d be able to give protection to the vehicle’s body. Online, you can find all sorts of nerf bars. From stainless steel nerf bars, chrome bars or powder-coated nerf bars, they come in different sizes, shapes and designs.

The nerf bars for trucks are commonly referred to as boss bars or step bars. If you want to maximize your truck’s functionality, you should definitely place nerf bars on your truck. Having them allows you to protect your truck from the dangers of severe weather conditions or while you are traversing dangerous road tracks. With nerf bars, you are assured of extra protection during frontal or side collision. GP

Cheaper to buy a new car or keep our old one?

Friday, June 13th, 2008

We have a 1997 toyota celica that has never had any problems. Well we did replace the brakes about four years ago and right now the motor for the heat and a/c needs to be fixed or possibly replaced. Other than that it’s always had its oil changed and never given us any trouble. 103,000 miles on it. I’m wondering what would be smarter, to go ahead and fix it up (right now it needs an oil change, possibly sanded rotors, new brake pads, new windshield wipers and a transmission oil change). I guess I’m just wondering whether or not my car is going to kick the bucket after I get all this [relatively minor] maintenance done. :-)

Oops! Thanks. I’m clueless about rotors (and hoping to not get taken advantage of lol…)

I would absolutely put the money into the vehicle and fix it up. the price of gas is outrages, why add a car payment to that? your looking at about (where i work at least) about 300 to 400 dollars worth of work. and its actually called resurface the rotors, turned is a common used slang for customers.

…………………

It would probably be cheaper to keep the Celica. They’re a pretty decent car (i have a friend with one that has 180,000miles). If you are thinking about buying a new car, specifically a compact/economy car, you might want to wait. With gas prices the way they are, some dealerships are raising the sticker price by thousands of dollars because everybody is selling their SUV’s and buying smaller vehicles. P.S. ~I got a Scion TC not long ago and I love it. It’s basically Toyota’s new Celica since they discontinued it. You should check it out.~

………….

If it aint broke dont fix it. I have an 89 and a 93 and I do my own repairs. Do the math. If my cars worth 1000$ and I need to put 2000$ into it to drive another 50,000 miles is it worth it? I say yes. I dont want to make payments on something just because its new and the money you put into your old car is a lot less then you would spend on a new car. Get it fixed and save a lot of cash.

………………

I just retired my 1997 automobile two weeks ago. It had a lot more miles on it, though, 228,000, I just bought a new car. In your case….I think that you have relatively low miles on it for an 11 year old car, and has given you no trouble. I would keep the car you have as long as possible. You questions was in regards to cheaper. I believe you still have many more miles ahead in the one you have.

…………

If you are spending more for maintenance (oil, repairs, etc.) than you would for monthly payment on a new car, then it would be cheaper to get a new car.

Otherwise it is alway cheaper to keep the current car (especially if the car does NOT have problems)

……………

Hard to say. If it isn’t broken why get rid of it. I would keep it and save my money instead of making car payments now. The older it gets the resale value goes down though. right now the trade in value is probably around 3500 and the if you sold it out right between 4 and 5000. They are cars that are known for running for a very long time though. You should be able to put another 100,000 on it. If you like to take long trips by car though I would consider a new one.

http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/1997_Toy…

………….

103k miles is not a lot.. and everything you mentioned would cost less than $100… so i would definately suggest keeping the car.

PS… you do not get rotors sanded.. you would have to get them “turned” if they are warped.

………..

My wife and I were in a similar dilemma.
what we did is figure out how much repairs were going to be , how much we thought it might need in the near future and compared it to new vehicle payments.
We kept the old car!!

…………

Having regular maintenance performed on your Toyota should give you a minimum 300,000 miles with few problems along the way. But we’re talking engine problems.Toyota’s are built to handle the miles, and still perform well. In todays economy, I would suggest keeping it and fixing the minor problems you mentioned. In my opinion it is always best to hang onto the one you have rather than purchase a new one keeping in mind the purchase price, depreciation, maintenance and upkeep and you’ve already lost a ton of money your first year. The only reason I would get a newer vehicle would be for looks or to make a satement of some kind, but that’s not me anyway. You might consider a second vehicle later, for just having a second vehicle, but for now your Toyota just got broke in. That’s my opinion. We own a ‘99 Grand Marquis with 145000 on it with no major problems…Your Toyota will outlast mine.

……………..

The maintenance work you are talking about is relatively minor. A brake job should only cost about $100/axle if only front or rear is needed. Double that for both. Turning the rotors will add to the cost. Wipers and an oil and filter change is nothing. Unless you are having trouble with the transmission, don’t change the fluid, sometimes it can create more trouble than what it is worth. Check the color of the fluid first. If it is very dark brown, then consider changing it.

To keep the cost down on the “fan?” motor, consider going to a junk yard for a used one, or maybe an aftermarket (non-OEM) motor. Autozone for instance.

At a 100,000 miles, your Toyota is just getting broken in. You still have years left on that car!

25+ years in the auto industry

……………..

New cars can lose as much as 20% of their value as soon as they’re driven off the lot. So, I would keep what you have as long as it’s running good and is in good shape (not rusting out, damaged interior).
I have over 100,000 on my car and needed to get work done after the timing belt broke. It was expensive so I was thinking about junking the car, but the mechanic said it was in good shape and I wouldn’t have been able to find another car for what it cost in repairs. So, so far so good.
You never know when you get a new car if it’s going to have problems also. And every car eventually needs oil changes, wipers, brakes, etc.
What you could do if start putting some money away, say maybe the amount of a car payment. By the time you need a new car, you’ll have a pretty good amount saved up towards one.

……………

i would keep your car, it’s a toyota those things go forever! transmission fluid really shouldn’t be flushed only changed, and this doesn’t cost that much maybe $40 oil changes are about $20, and if your breaks are so bad that their grinding the rotors up, then all you need is break pads, which are about $80-130 depending where you go. Honestly all together it would cost you about 350, $400 tops to fix your car to make it perfect! a new car will run you about $3000 to get one even just as nice as the one you already have and will still prob need just as much maintenance!! Keep in mind I have a 92 PLYMOUTH acclaim and mine has 155,000 miles on it, and it’s still running fine! So esp. with gas prices right now DO NOT buy a new car!

Auto Insurance

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

The internet is a great resource for tips on buying insurance. For example, the land beneath your house is not at risk from incidents such as theft and fire that are covered in your homeowners policy. If you include the land’s value in deciding how much insurance to buy you may wind up paying a higher premium than you should. Making your home more disaster resistant can also help you save on your home insurance. You may be able to save on your premiums by adding storm shutters, reinforcing your roof or buying stronger roofing materials. Older homes can be retrofitted to make them better able to withstand earthquakes. In addition, consider modernizing your heating, plumbing and electrical systems to reduce the risk of fire and water damage. Improving your home’s security can help cut costs also. Adding a smoke detector, burglar alarm, or dead-bolt locks can earn you a 5 percent discount.

There are also some helpful hints online that can guide you to the best auto insurance for you. Many people are unaware that should they have a car loan, they will need both collision and comprehensive coverage. Collision coverage pays for damage to your car even if the accident was your fault. Comprehensive coverage pays for damages that weren’t caused by an car accident, such as fire, theft or vandalism.
