New Clothes

Friday, September 25th, 2009

My husband has told me that I can buy myself some new clothes and I have jumped at the chance! He said that he is sick of seeing me in the same Alfred Dunner clothing all of the time. I love it, which is why I wear it a lot but I think that if I get some other pieces and mingle them with what I have then I will be able to create some new looks and still be able to wear the clothes that I like so much. I think that I will start by looking at some Ruby Rd things because I have a friend who wears a lot of their things and she always looks really nice so hopefully I will be able to find a few pieces which will suit me as well. I am quite a different size and shape to her but I am sure that there will be something suitable. I am going to start with looking at some Karen Kane things though as I have always been keen on her things but have never treated myself, to them before so I think that this is an ideal opportunity to do so.

Weather Woes

Friday, September 18th, 2009

It seemed like we were never going to get a summer this year. The weather was dull a lot of the time and then it rained and rained for weeks. I guess we are used to it being like that, but we still seem to hold out some hope that we might get a good summer, especially with all of this talk about global warming! Rather than planning a holiday this year I booked a MCITP 2008 boot camp as I need to get the qualification but I could not afford to get it and go abroad. I took the week before off work and was planning on relaxing and just winding down ready for the onslaught of information the week after. I thought that I could potter in the garden and take in some sun. Unfortunately it rained hard nearly all of the time and so I ended up staying in the house most of the time. Of course there were plenty of jobs there to be done but it was not as relaxing as I had intended. Of course the time I was actually at the MCITP bootcamp the weather was lovely - there was sunshine every day and it was boiling hot! Typical isn’t it!

Advantages of Distance Learning

Friday, September 4th, 2009

Many people do not consider doing distance learning when they are trying to get some new qualifications but it can be a great option. If you have family commitments then being able to study at home can be really useful. If you do not have much time or cannot consistently guarantee that you will be free to study at a particular time each week, then distance learning can help as you can fit it in whenever you like. Sometimes the remote classroom instruction happens at a set time, but normally you are free to study whenever you like as long as you can commit to a particular amount of hours in each week. It offers great freedom as you do not have to study at home, but if you are travelling on a train, on holiday or even at work in your lunch break you can do some study if you have the time and the inclination. It can be a great way to study without all of the normal inconveniences and may also mean that you can finish the course sooner than normal if you happen to have a lot of free time on your hands.

Camping Things

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

I have decided to update all of the family camping equipment. When we went away this year we noticed that some of the tents were no longer as water tight as they used to be and when you are camping in the UK you would do well to make sure that you are protected from the rain. I have been looking at some canopies as well. This is because normally we just sit about on the grass but if it is wet we often have to retreat inside the tents or to the car which is not that much fun. I have seen a lot of people using canopies and I think that they look like a great idea. Hopefully they will not be too expensive. I was also thinking of getting some outdoor storage so that we can keep our things in better order. Normally we are only away for a weekend and so we do not have that much stuff but we are thinking of going for a week and so we will need to have more food, more equipment and more clothing and so having some storage outside of the tent will be really useful for us.
