Diabetes and alcohol?!?

Can someone with diabetes drink alcohol?

Diabetics can drink alchohol most certainly! It is a hit and miss game thoguh, and most stray from alchohol just to be on the safe side. All alchohol will spike a diabetic’s blood glucose reading and them (up to twelve hours later) drop it severely.
My father and I go out for drinks every so often and i really have to watch my glucose readings.
Alcohol does not only impact a diabetic’s readings, it also hurts their liver, and other organs.
In the end, it is up to you. I drink occasionally, and I have never ended up in the hospital etc. from it. However, i monitor it for a long time afterward and I do not drink more that 8oz of liquor

No. Maybe one in a blue moon. Beer has a lot of carbs and wine coolers and other alcohols have a lot of sugar in them. Your blood sugar would go very high, and later drop low. Drinking causes both of these problems. I tried when I was first diagnosed, and did not care about my disease. My blood sugar would drop dangerously low

———

Alcohol is pure “sugar alcohols” which immediately go into your bloodstream and alter your glucose levels. I’m a diabetic for over 20 years, when I am really on track, I can have, with dinner consisting mainly of PROTEIN, I will have a little red wine or white wine without a major spike in my glucose level. If you’re talking about going out with the girls and drinking the night away…yes, you can do it but be prepared to be deathly sick at the end of the night from a sugar hi and then low and a wicked headache and I don’t mean hangover..so, I have come to the conclusion it is not worth it to be sick for days to have a little fun drinking. Besides, my body is so sensitive to sugar, a half glass of wine and I’m flying high……

Picking a lamb for an SAE?

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

So I am deciding between three market day lambs. One is very, very docile and would be a lot easier to train, but, it has a small loin and small legs. It doesn’t seem to have much growth potential and it was probably the smallest one there.

Then there was a very nice looking sheep big Loin strong shoulders, good balance, but, I could barely catch it and when I was feeding them eat was the very last one to eat (from my hands) and the very first one to leave.

Then there was one kind of in between, the loin was almost as long but, not nearly as wide. His shoulder was about and inch and inch and a half smaller. He was kind of docile hard to catch but, after I did he would stay with me and lead pretty well.

None of them have any training at all, and I am kind of a newb, but, I really want to do well at the fair. Should I go with the very strong, and not docile–at all, the ok looking one, that was a little bit more docile, or the very docile one with little growth potential?

Always go for the good conformation, you can tame it down and train it the way that you want to. You cannot change the conformation, if you start out with a bad one you wind up with a loser, no matter how gentle it is. The length and width of that loin and the size of those hind legs are the things that sell well and will win the competitions for you. Your choice here is easy, hard work ahead with a winning lamb or the easy way with a gentle loser.

HELP. Nose piercing.?

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Hi, this past week I got my nose pierced. The stud which looks like it has a little hook at the end is peaking out through my nostril. I’ve been trying to twist it back, but no luck. Anyone know how to move the stud back, cuz I don’t want to have to go to my piercer if I don’t have to. It looks like a shiny booger hanging out. If you could please explain how the hook should be resting in my nose.

I think the stud is too long…unless you want to keep having to push it back i say go back to the piercer so they can change it out for a smaller one

…………

Firstly, NEVER get a piercing with gun! It grabs hold, stretches the skin and cartilage and damages it. If you’re not picky about what side it’s on, remove it and get a needle man that only uses 100% sterilized, tapered needles A good piercer can manuever that stud so it doesn’t show. I had 11 piercing from this guy and they were all perfect. NEEDLES, no guns. He may be able to adjust for you, needle inserted are easy to move

……….

when i had my nose pierced i had the same problem, i took it out because i kept getting nosebleeds by the way, but anyway, you just turn it really easy the opposite way that it’s sticking out, or your piercer could have actually pierced it too close to the outside of the nostril, and you might not be able to do anything about it showing, but i’m not sure otherwise

Dallas Criminal Lawyers

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

A Dallas criminal attorney is the person to call if you have been charged with a crime. They can handle cases from misdemeanors to felonies. A misdemeanor offense is charged for a relatively minor crime while more serious crimes are felonies. The difference between the two is often noted in the punishment given. Punishment for a felony carries more than a year imprisonment in a penitentiary, while those convicted of a misdemeanor often serve a year or less confinement, but not in a prison.

Your Dallas criminal defense lawyer can help you understand whether or not your case ended with a settlement. A settlement is an agreement reached in a case, negotiated by both parties involved. A plea bargain may be offered by the prosecutor and may reduce the seriousness of the charge, or reduce the number of charges filed in return for a guilty plea, or cooperation with other cases.

Because every crime except murder carries an expiration date, or statute of limitation, it is critical that you start searching for legal representation as soon as possible. You deserve the best fighting for your side, so for expert legal advice, contact Dallas criminal lawyers today.

Rented Textbooks is a Better Alternative

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

While more and more students are enrolling each term, the need for textbooks also increases. Parents have shelled out bucks upon bucks for textbooks alone. Well, now, there is a much better alternative for budget-conscious parents and students — textbook rental.

There are now many online stores for used textbooks or new ones that are being rented out. These stores are the brain works of some university graduates who were looking for ways to improve the academic lives of their fellow students and, of course, to pocket some income. Upon the introduction of such a concept, students have since flocked online and have purchased numerous books.

To rent textbooks, all that a student has to do is to go online and purchase using any of the payment methods that stores provide. There millions of used textbooks can be found each year and these could serve better and longer purposes when other students buy them. Even with the shipping fee included, these books are still less expensive when compared to the new ones that students buy from bookstores.

Students spend hundreds of dollars for their textbooks and this need not be the case anymore. The rent textbook idea is one that could teach them to save money for other needful things. With this new concept, forget having to buy new books and switch to the equally-useful ones at a lower price!

Getting Your Own Nerf Bars to Maximize Safety and Convenience

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

If you would like to increase the functional value of your truck, you should equip it with the right accessories such as the nerf bars for truck. But what are nerf bars? To most people nerf bars are metal side steps. These are those tubular bars that are placed on the undersides of your truck to serve as steps so you’d find it easy to get in and out of your truck.

Nerf bars for trucks are great for providing safety to children and older people who get in and out of the truck. Trucks, by nature, have high-ground clearance so you’d be able to provide maximum safety to your kids when they have nerf bars to step on to.

Aside from the ease of getting in and out of the truck, you’d be able to give protection to the vehicle’s body. Online, you can find all sorts of nerf bars. From stainless steel nerf bars, chrome bars or powder-coated nerf bars, they come in different sizes, shapes and designs.

The nerf bars for trucks are commonly referred to as boss bars or step bars. If you want to maximize your truck’s functionality, you should definitely place nerf bars on your truck. Having them allows you to protect your truck from the dangers of severe weather conditions or while you are traversing dangerous road tracks. With nerf bars, you are assured of extra protection during frontal or side collision. GP

I want to learn how to ice skate! Any pointers?

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

I am a young athletic male who doesn’t know how to ice skate.

What kind of skates should I get? Where can I get cheap ones?

until you’re confident that you’ll continue liking the sport and thus NEED the skates, save your money. get rental skates. they should have some decent ones. well. i took a long time to let go of my friends and the board. one advice: go with your friends who skate and are generally nice enough not to tease.

unless you’re really interested to take skating to the next level, also hold off classes. skating can be expensive.

wear gloves no matter what. they protect you from the cold and brutal impact when you fall. some ice can be sharp due to being cut by strong skaters. my friend has these horrible scars from skating, one dangerously near her wrist.

wear long clothing to cover yourself and to keep you warm. it helps when you fall too. lesser injuries, the better you can make use of your skating time.

also, keep yourself prepared for sudden falls as there may be holes in the ice due to ppl falling down, jumps by figure skaters, etc.

but then, dont let people scare you. falls are not that bad. it’s better than on land, for sure. the slippery ice will make you skid after you fall. this will reduce the impact. dont get up immediately if you’re shocked.

start out by walking on land with skates. your skates, if figure skating style, should be tighter at the ankle. generally if you can slip a finger under the lace, that’s tight enough. it should feel really snug, more so than your sports shoes.

relax on the ice. observe how the better skaters move. follow as such. it’s easier to know when you see them. dont go to any frozen pond alone. it’s dangerous.

hmm. regarding what skates you should get, i’ll say soft skates. if you’re in the US, riedell should be the popular brand. i have risport skates, which work for me. i’m not sure about riedell, but if it’s so wrong it cant be so popular.

http://www.riedellskates.com/ice/830.htm…

that’s riedell’s website, with that as a soft skate.

new figure skating boots will hurt like hell, so you must have the endurance! they’re not very cheap too. so i’d get a second hand ones. mine was a month old when i got it and looked and feel new.

your buds may say stuff if they’re not quite considerate but ignore them if you really feel like you have to learn the sport. that’s what i do.

——

if ur starting in an arena stay against a wall and let go for 5 seconds. then go back to the wall, and use the rental skates

——

Its all about balance and co-ordination. If you can roller blade you should be off to a good start. If you fall forward’s, remember to try and curl your fingers into a fist. That way anyone skating by you wont cut your fingers off - just a tip!
